Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz on Friday launched a series of development projects in the village to mark his 50th birthday. He also announced his intention to contest the 2027 Assembly election from the Benaulim constituency.

The projects were inaugurated in the presence of Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, Deputy Sarpanch Delfina, and panch members Irish Passainha, Jesus D’Costa and John.

The initiatives include the installation of solar panels at the Panchayat Ghar, air-conditioning for the Panchayat Hall, development of the Cavelossim Tinto and Pickleball Court, renovation of the primary school to house a Self-Help Group and Biodiversity Office, installation of two modern bus stops, beautification works with railings and pavers at Mobor Cross, construction of a beach welcome arch and footpath, development of a Material Recovery Facility (MRF), and restoration of water bodies.

Stating that these projects have been undertaken for the benefit of the village, Dixon said he hopes to extend the Cavelossim model of development to the rest of the Benaulim constituency.

“The Cavelossim Village Panchayat is financially sound, and we have implemented several projects through government schemes and CSR support,” he said.

The sarpanch also announced plans to secure a dedicated fire station for the coastal belt and stressed the need to create employment opportunities for local youth.

“With the Panchayat now powered by solar energy, it will have zero electricity bills. By December, we aim to provide solar power to one house in each Panchayat ward,” he added.

In his address, MLA Reginaldo Lourenco praised the Cavelossim Sarpanch for undertaking several welfare and development projects during his tenure.

“Dixon is a sarpanch who is closely connected with the people and has great love for his village,” he said.
