CB, ANC seize narcotics worth over Rs 10 lakh

In a fourth drug raid by Goa Police in the first week of New Year 2023, Crime Branch (CB) sleuths recovered Ganja worth Rs 5 lakh from a Sindhudurg youth on Friday. The arrest came soon after Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) arrested another peddler from Baga while he was in possession of Hashil Oil, valued at Rs 5.10 lakh.

Superintendent of Police (CB) Nidhin Valsan informed that 31-year-old Sajid Sanadi was caught red-handed in possession of 5.50 kg Ganja as he waited for his prospective customer, near the Patradevi over-bridge.

The man, who reportedly arrived in Goa via road to primarily trade in drugs in the northern belt of Goa, has been arrested under the NDPS Act.

In a separate raid by ANC, Agra based man identified as Satya Prakash Jadon was found with 510 gms of Hashish Oil. The 29-year-old tourist had checked in at a hotel at Calangute this week. DySP ANC Nerlon Albuquerque said the accused is also arrested under NDPS Act, and remanded to police custody for interrogation.

The local police, ANC and CB have so far registered five cases of drug peddling and recovered different types of drugs worth approx Rs 12 lakh.
