The Crime Branch (CB) sleuths arrested a couple for allegedly cheating several people on assurances of providing them loans at low-interest rates.
The couple is identified as Ankush Kadam and Pooja Kadam, natives of Chinchale in Sangli.
“They were operating from a bungalow in Ponda where they invited people on the pretext of offering loans from Rs 1 crore to Rs 10 crore at a 4 percent rate of interest. The loan was on condition that investors pay 1 percent commission on the assured loan amount, which had to be paid in advance,”
CB SP Nidhin Valsan said further informing that through this modus operandi, the couple cheated several investors.
The raiding team attached Rs 1.70 lakh, 14 mobile phones and other articles from the possession of the accused.
