The Cuncolim police have registered a case against three persons in connection with the complaint lodged by Roshell Fernandes, deputy Director-I, Director of Mines and Geology in connection with illegal stone quarrying.
Cuncolim PI Tukaram Chawan informed that the police have registered a case under section 379 read with section 34 IPC and Rule 3 and 38 of the Goa, Daman and Diu Minor Mineral Concession Rule 1985 upon the complaint of Roshell Fernandes, Deputy Director-1, Director of Mines and Geology.
The complaint alleged that prior to September 26, 2022, the accused persons namely Chandrahas Anant Faldessai, resident of Kajuwado Balli, Prashant Rama Faldessai, resident of Kajuwado Balli and Shailendra Faldessai, resident of Vantem with their common intention illegally extracted laterite stones within the area of 1000 sq mts, 1200sq mts and 1500 sq mts approximately, tentatively in the village of Bendordem of Quepem Taluka without valid permission from Directorate of Mines and Geology for quarrying of laterite stones.
The complaint further stated that the laterite stones were further transported to some unknown destination thereby committing theft of resources of State government for their personal gains, thereby causing loss to the State government.
The value of the property, however, remains unknown.
