In a terse notice to the organisers, the CCP officer has said that the permission granted to organise the festival between April 21 and 23 along the promenade “stands cancelled.” Interestingly the CCP itself, is one of the organizing partners of the event.
The iconic festival which draws huge crowds over its extensive display of varieties of fruits and plants from the region is held in collaboration with the CCP as a co-organiser as well as the State Agriculture Department, the Goa Horticulture Development Corporation and other related government agencies.
The organisers, however, have assured that the festival will go ahead as planned.
“If we have to change the venue we will change, but the event will go ahead and will be held on the same days,” Miguel Braganza the organizing secretary of the festival told The Goan.   It is believed that the festival will now shift from the promenade to the F L Gomes garden in the Campal heritage precinct.
