Doctor assault: IMA members meet CM, DGP

A delegation of the Indian Medical Association, Goa State Branch, on Wednesday, met Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar as well as Director General of Police Dr Muktesh Chander and brought to his notice the assault on 73-year-old Dr Babu Redkar at his clinic in Carmona on April 10.

Members of the delegation led by president Dr Meena Salkar and Dr Kalpana Chodankar informed the CM that the police had already arrested one of the accused while the other accused, a woman, was absconding.  Through a memorandum submitted to the CM, IMA-Goa has requested the CM to ensure speedy arrest, and even extradition if need be, of the female accused. IMA-Goa expressed that stringent action in this case will prove as a deterrent not only for offenders in Goa but all over the country where violence against doctors has peaked.
