CCP gears up for monsoon with tighter oversight on civic projects

With the monsoon approaching, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) is intensifying its efforts to tackle flooding and complete civic works on time.

At a review meeting with Commissioner Clen Madeira and senior officials, CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate stressed the importance of stronger inter-departmental coordination and underlined that challenges must be resolved quickly while maintaining quality standards.

Officials were directed to keep all works aligned with planned timelines.

To strengthen oversight, the CCP has introduced a structured review framework. Meetings will now be held twice a week: on Mondays, priorities for the week will be set and on Fridays, progress on each work will be reviewed.

The system, Monserrate said, will ensure accountability and steady progress across projects.

The Mayor added that consistent monitoring is critical to prevent lapses. He said the CCP is committed to improving drainage and civic infrastructure before the onset of heavy rains.

Officials present agreed that better coordination is essential to meet deadlines. The meeting concluded with a call for strict adherence to timelines and visible improvements in flood-prevention measures.

Panaji has faced recurring flooding during past monsoons. The CCP leadership has promised that this year’s preparations will deliver stronger results and reduce disruptions for residents.

Monserrate said the CCP will focus on ensuring that routine pre-monsoon projects are executed efficiently and without delay.
