Leopards have been on the prowl and have been targeting livestock and pet animals of residents in the Sakrewal area of Mastimoll in Canacona.
In one such incident, a leopard killed a pet dog from the house of Pradip Rane and this was captured on a CCTV camera.
CCTV footage at about 4.15 am captured the leopard stealthily approaching the dog in the courtyard of Pradip Rane and it suddenly grabbed the dog away under the cover of darkness.
Rane and his family were asleep at the time and their house is located just behind the Government Higher Secondary School at Mastimoll.
He had recently installed a CCTV camera following complaints of missing livestock in the locality.
People have requested the forest department to make some arrangements to ensure that these leopards do not stray in their locality and prey on domesticated animals.
