Police and officials of Goa Engineering College (GEC) at Farmagudi have decided to install CCTV cameras on the main gate of the college and to close the main gate from 8 pm to 7 am.
Ponda police had convened a special meeting to discuss the recent incident involving the extorting and assaulting an NIT student at the GEC campus on the night of June 6. Six persons were later arrested in this connection.
The meeting which was chaired by Ponda DySP Ashish Shirodkar was attended by PI Tushar Lotlikar, GEC principal Dr Kripa Shankar, Santosh Upadhye and others.
The police also decided to take strict action against those youth from Ponda who enter the college complex and harass students.
DySP Ashish Shirodkar said concrete decisions have been taken to stop such incidents in the GEC campus during night time.
