The Arpora parish on August 11 witnessed a vibrant celebration of indigenous people on the occasion of Indigenous Day, bringing together around 300 Adivasi migrants from the Chotanagpur region.
These individuals, who work in the areas of Arpora, Nagoa, and Calangute, united to proudly showcase their rich cultural heritage.
The event commenced with a meaningful Holy Mass, celebrated by Fr Joseph Nazareth and Fr Anthony, which was specifically designed to honour the indigenous community. The Eucharist was a stirring reminder of the importance of preserving and promoting the unique traditions and customs of Adivasi people.
Following the Mass, a lively cultural programme took centre stage, featuring an array of performances, music, and dance that highlighted the diversity and resilience of the Adivasi community. The event was a testament to the strength and solidarity of the indigenous people, who came together to celebrate their identity and heritage.
The celebration continued with a fellowship meal, prepared by the community members themselves. This shared meal was a true reflection of the love, joy, and warmth that defines the Adivasi spirit.
