Mapusa Sub-Division emerged victorious in the 8th Edition of the Inter-Division Police Football Tournament, defeating Ponda Sub-Division 3-2 in a thrilling match held at the PHQ Grounds in Panaji.
Aditya Gad was the standout player for Mapusa, scoring twice, with Shubhan Chandoji adding the third goal. For Ponda Sub-Division, Shubham Naik and Gauresh Gaonkar each scored a goal.
Shubham Naik was named Man of the Match for his performance, while PSI Aditya Gad was honoured as Man of the Tournament.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by chief guest Alok Kumar (IPS), Director General of Police Goa, alongside IGP Goa Omveer Singh, SP Sports Dharmesh Angley, DYSP Sports Shivram Vaigankar, and PI Sports Raia Naik. The event was compered by PSI Jitendra Sinari.
DGP Goa praised both teams for their sportsmanship and expressed hopes for the Goa Police Football team to excel further in the upcoming season. He also congratulated the officials, coaches, and staff of the Goa Police Sports Cell for organising the tournament.
Coach Swanand Naik was honoured for his exceptional contribution in leading the team to win the First Division and securing promotion to the GFA Professional League. IGP Singh announced that in February 2025, Goa Police will host the All India Police Football Cluster.
