Chandor Club secured their place in the quarterfinals of the 49th Chandor Seamen Football Tournament with a 2-0 victory over the youthful Uguem Rising Club. The match, held at Chandor Grounds, showcased a competitive and intense display of football.
From the outset, both teams demonstrated their determination to gain the upper hand. Chandor's Vitorino Fernandes came close to opening the scoring with a powerful shot, but Uguem’s goalkeeper made a crucial save by punching the ball over the crossbar. The first half ended without any goals.
In the second half, Chandor Club came back with renewed vigour. Their persistence paid off in the 39th minute when Vitorino Fernandes scored with a precise grounder, putting Chandor ahead. Uguem Rising Club responded with increased energy and nearly equalized when Pradeep Gaunkar's ground shot narrowly missed the target.
Both teams delivered an exciting performance that thrilled the large crowd in attendance. In the 52nd minute, Chandor's Valentino took advantage of a momentary lapse by the Uguem goalkeeper, who had ventured out of goal to collect the ball. Valentino’s shot into the open goal secured the final score of 2-0.
