Admitting that a lot of people could face difficulties if mining did not commence soon, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Friday afternoon addressed media and said that the Centre would soon come to the rescue of the state to resume mining operation soon.
“Goan economy will be affected and this is not restricted to only mining dependents. This will have a cascading effect and revenue is already down by 20 per cent which will also reflect in developmental works. We are hopeful that the center will come to the rescue of the state very soon and I cannot specify the time frame as everybody is seized of the matter and everybody is moving in that direction. We also want the mining activity to resume as soon as possible. Blame game should be over. Sincere efforts should be made by all sides to see that mining starts and there will never be a solution if we start blaming one single party for everything,” Godinho said.
“This is not the time to instigate but a time to think for solutions to restart mining. In fact, I have even spoken to central leaders that Goa has been impacted by two things, one is the health of the CM Manohar Parrikar and second is the mining,” said Godinho
‘Goa’s governance is good, Cong using unethical means’
VASCO: Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho on Friday afternoon slammed the Congress for restorting to unethical moves like taking out a morcha (march) demanding the resignation of the CM. Godinho said that the awards proved that Goa has a good functioning govt that is working for the welfare of the people of Goa.
Godinho said the CM Manohar Parrikar has laid a strong foundation for progressive and prospering Goa which believes in protecting of the environment despite setback of revenue. He said that government was working in all fields and sectors for an all round development in all the constituencies.
The Panchayat Minister informed that on Friday a mini market and a panchayat hall was inaugurated in the constituency of Babu Kavlekar who is the opposition leader and this shows that there was no discrimination on basis of one’s political party.
“After a mining ban the state is running on tourism. Even after witnessing a 20 per cent drop in revenue all developmental works are being carried out,” said Godinho.
“Even though Parrikar is not well, all developmental works are going on but still Congress is making allegations and some days back took an unethical step trying to force someone (Parrikar) to step down. They also took out a morcha for this. This is totally unethical and they don’t have any ethics. We have examples of CM running governance while on bed like Jayalalitha, Karunanidhi and even Jawaharlal Nehru who was sick for a period of three years. Nobody wants to fall sick deliberately. Ailments are unpredictable and playing politics on it is not ethical,” said Godinho.
