“The government should treat all the MLAs equally. There cannot be a separate yardstick for Mickky Pacheco and another for Ramesh Tawadkar. Any decision on the resignation of ministers in the event of being chargesheeted in the court of law ought to be made applicable for everyone without any discrimination,” Caitu said.
He said the government will lose trust of the people if it fails to give justice equally for everyone.
Meanwhile, the Benaulim MLA has said the Dando ground road was damaged on account of laying of a water pipeline for the benefit of the people. “The existing water pipeline was around 40-50 years old and could not bear additional water pressure. The entire line has been replaced. This work ought to have been done by the former MLAs who represented the constituency over the years,” he said.
Asked to comment on the seven-day deadline set by the agitated residents to stage a rasta roko, Caitu said work on the restoration of the road has already commenced, while attributing the delay on part of JICA to finalise a contractor. “The road was damaged because the excavated area was sinking on account of the rains. The same will be restored,” he added.
