Cheating plaint filed
PANAJI: Cyber Crime police station of Goa police on Tuesday registered offence against an unknown person for cheating a woman from Salcete over a social networking site and duping her to the tune of Rs 2.8 lakh.
According to the complaint filed by Gina Pereira, resident of Salcete, an unknown person with a Facebook profile named Peter Felix duped her of Rs 2.8 lakh under the pretext of sending gifts.
The accused asked the complainant to deposit this amount in various bank accounts.
Cyber Crime police have registered the complaint under Section 66 D of the Information Technology Act, 2000 for cheating the complainant by impersonation through using computer resource.
PI Rajesh Job is investigating the matter.
