Amidst the gloomy environment of the pandemic and the deaths mounting by the day, there was some good news emanating from the gynaecology section of the South Goa district hospital with Covid-infected women giving birth to as many as nine newborns, including twins since the weekend.
Sharing the good news, district hospital nodal officer Dr Rajesh Patil said a Covid mother has given birth to twins, while there were as many as three successful caesarean deliveries in the last two days.
“The mothers and newborn babies are all stable and fine. They are being attended to by the doctors and are being administered treatment as per the SOP in place in the hospital,” Dr Patil said.
And, if the district hospital nodal officer is to be believed, as many as three more women will undergo caesarean in the next two-three days.
As many as 19 Covid-infected pregnant women were admitted in the gynaecology section of the South Goa district hospital over the last few days.
The district hospital plays host to a 26-bedded gynaecology ward, which is exclusively reserved for pregnant women infected with coronavirus.
