Chimbel local asks FDA to act against illegal food carts

OLD GOA

A Chimbel local has complained to the Foods & Drugs Administration (FDA) and sought action against the illegal business of food carts, shops and vendors operating along the main road at Indira Nagar.

In his letter to the FDA, Ajay Kholkar claimed there are many shops/vendors and food carts selling various food items like chicken, fish, vada pav, tea, etc. without any necessary licences from the panchayat and the FDA.

Kholkar further claimed that the Chimbel panchayat had issued stop notices to the illegal businesses way back in 2020.

“Even after the stop notices by the panchayat, the illegal business of food carts is in full swing and continues till date. No further action is initiated by the Chimbel panchayat. Therefore, I have approached you to take the necessary action required as per law,” Kholkar adds.

The complainant has further sought inspection of the food carts in his presence. He has also attached copies of the stop notices issued by the Chimbel panchayat to 10 vendors operating their businesses at Indira Nagar.
