After having tasted success in promoting vaccination with the help of religious and prominent leaders in the Indira Nagar locality of Chimbel, the Chimbel Primary Health Centre (PHC) health officials have now turned to the lone high school in the area to spread awareness on the need for vaccination.
On Saturday, Chimbel PHC Medical Officer Dr Jude D’Souza accompanied by his team gave a talk to staff and teachers of the Jadeed Urdu High School on spreading awareness about vaccination among students, so that they educate their parents about the same.
“There is a lot of negative publicity going around on the social media about the vaccine but we have to counter that by giving authentic information,” Dr D’Souza stated and informed that he will prepare a small video creating awareness on the need for vaccination to defeat Covid.
“This video could then be shared to the students through social media so that the word spreads around,” he added and appealed to staff and teachers of the school to get themselves vaccinated too.
Speaking on the occasion, school headmaster Fayaz Ahmad Mulla said a lot of false propaganda is spread through social media and hence, it is important to negate the same.
Later, Dr D’Souza answered to the queries posed by the staff and teachers to clear their doubts about the vaccine.
Meanwhile, spurned by the success achieved at Indira Nagar, Dr D’Souza has started awareness campaigns in Santa Cruz as well.
“On Friday, we campaigned in the market area of Santa Cruz and the vaccination numbers showed a huge jump,” Dr D’Souza informed and added that such awareness campaigns will be held in housing societies as well.
