While the port town has been gripped with Chaturthi festivities, it has also allowed an artist to bring out her inbuilt talent and support a noble cause.
Believe it or not, a resident of Vasco Shivani Naik has made a 10kg chocolate Ganpati which is on display at 1930 Mall, Vasco.
If that it not all, Naik plans to have the visarjan of this chocolate Ganesh in 30 litres of milk, which will then be served as prasad to the poor and needy children across Vasco city.
Naik speaking to media on Sunday said that she was inspired about this idea from a chocolate artist in Mumbai
"There was an artist in Mumbai, Rintu Rathod, who had made the first chocolate Ganpati ten years ago and i felt that I should also make one chocolate Ganpati four years ago but due to some issues, I could not achieve the idea in 2018. We then had Covid pandemic and again the idea was pending and finally this year I decided to make the Chocolate Ganapati," said Naik.
"It was not easy, I saw her videos on you tube and also attended her classes and this is how I got inspired and I used this idea to make a chocolate Ganpati and after visarjan in milk on the 7th day, I will distribute it amongst the poor as prasad. This is a 10 kg chocolate Ganpati and it took me ten days because of heavy rains. This is made of modelling chocolate and temperature and climate plays a major role and since chocolate melts in warm temperatures, I had to make the entire idol in an AC room for the entire 24 hours," said Naik.
"For the visarjan, we will use 30 ltrs of milk and after the chocolate melts, we will warm it further and make chocolate milk and distribute amongst the poor children across different parts of the city. This Ganpati is displayed at 1930 Mall and Nitin Bandekar of the NRB Group helped me when he heard the idea and also provided me with the space for display of the Chocolate Ganesh. The members of the Aghaaz group also helped me with the idea of having an acrylic box to cover the chocolate Ganesh idol,"said Naik.
