Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced a reduction of special ferry charges from Rs 250 to Rs 100 along the Chorao-Ribandar ferry route.
According to reports, the Chief Minister took the decision at the request of Mayem MLA Pravin Zantye, the Mayem BJP block committee and Chodan-Madel panchayat.
Charges had been increased for special ferry services causing unhappiness among people in the area.
The Chodan-Madel panchayat along with the BJP block committee and local MLA Pravin Zantye then requested the CM and the RND Minister to resolve the issue and lower the rates.
Speaking to reporters, Zantye said the reduction in the special ferry rates would be helpful to those who seek the service. “I am grateful to the CM and River Navigation Department Minister Milind Naik for fulfilling our demand,” said Zantye.
