The Church in Goa has voiced profound grief following the catastrophic fire at Arpora nightclub that claimed 25 lives on Saturday night.

In a message released on Sunday, the Archbishop of Goa and Daman, the Auxiliary Bishop, and the wider Church community expressed solidarity with the families enduring unimaginable loss.

Fr Barry Cardozo, Director of the Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media, said the tragedy has left the Church “heartbroken,” and assured the affected families of the Church’s spiritual support.

“We offer our heartfelt sympathies to all who are mourning. Our prayers are with every family that has lost a loved one, asking God to grant them strength and consolation,” Fr Cardozo stated.

He also conveyed prayers for the injured, hoping for their speedy recovery, and called for courage for everyone shaken by the incident.
