Prez, PM, other national leaders condole deaths

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday condoled the loss of lives in a fire mishap at Arpora nightclub, and announced financial assistance for the victims.

Extending condolences to the bereaved families, the Prime Minister said the incident was “deeply saddening”, and assured that the Centre and State were closely monitoring relief efforts.

In a post on X, PM Modi said, “The fire mishap in Arpora, Goa is deeply saddening. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest.”

PM Modi also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of deceased, and Rs 50,000 for the injured.

President Droupadi Murmu, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed grief over the incident and extended condolences to the families of the victims.

In a post on X, President Murmu said, “Deeply pained by the tragic fire incident in North Goa district resulting in the loss of precious lives. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. May they find strength during this difficult time. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.”

Shah called the incident “deeply painful”.

“The tragic loss of lives in a fire accident in Arpora, Goa, is deeply painful. The local administration is carrying out rescue and relief operations and providing the necessary care to the affected. My sincerest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured,” Shah said in a post on X.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also offered his condolences. “Deeply anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy in Arpora, Goa. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon,” said Singh.
