PANAJI: Following the announcement by Congress about its intention to file a private member’s resolution supporting the installation of Dr Jack Sequeira’s statue in the Assembly, Nationalist Congress Party’s lone MLA Churchill Alemao has disclosed that he has already submitted such a resolution.
Churchill has called upon all like-minded MLAs from the opposition as well as treasury benches to support his private member’s resolution at the upcoming session of the Assembly.
Speaking at Panaji, Churchill stated, “Let us respect the memory of the true father of the Opinion Poll by installing his statue in the Assembly complex next to that of our first Chief Minister Dayanand Bandodkar. I urge all MLAs to keep party affiliations aside and support the resolution for Goa’s sake.”
Meanwhile, NCP President Jose Philip D’Souza said that the BJP should support the demand which was first voiced by GFP supremo Vijai Sardessai. “Vijai made Parrikar CM and propped up the BJP government. It is now the
BJP’s responsibility to support his demand,” D’Souza
stated.
