A solar power push, creating a distinct nautical tourism module and lobbying with the Union shipping ministry for representation at the National Shipping Board are some of the key recommendations made by the Goa State Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in a dossier presented to the State government to spur industry and local business.
CII Goa State Council Chairman Anirudh Agrawal and his deputy Brajesh Upadhyay met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and presented this dossier of recommendations aimed at developing Goa’s key economic sectors.
Highlighting that Goa has immense potential for producing solar power, one recommendation made includes incentivizing solar energy players. It also urges that the government introduce a policy for ground-mounted solar systems for the State.
In the tourism sector, the CII has suggested developing ‘nautical tourism’ in Goa which is distinct from the current water sports module prevalent in the State. For starters, it said establishing a domestic and international cruise terminal at the Mormugao Port equipped with world-class facilities is a prerequisite for developing a ‘nautical tourism’ module which will attract quality and high-end tourists to the State.
