The general secretary of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party Lavu Mamledar has welcomed the statement of Deepak Dhavalikar on contesting municipality election on its own and not having alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
It may be recalled that recently while welcoming around 150 persons from five wards of Ponda municipality jurisdiction, Dhavalikar had said that MGP will not have any alliance with the BJP.
“What I wanted is that Deepak Dhavalikar should work to strengthen the MGP. He is on the right track now. I felt good that 150 persons from Ponda joined our party. Now even I am ready to work from all constituencies to strengthen the party,” Mamledar said.
Virendra Dhavalikar (ward 2), Sushan Kavlekar (ward 5), Yatish Sawkar (ward 3), Vitthal Naik (ward 7) and Adv Vandana Jog (ward 6) had recently joined the MGP along with their supporters in a function held in Ponda.
“If such good things are happening then I am with the party to strengthen it,” Mamledar said.
Recently, Mamledar had hit out at Deepak accusing him of taking unilateral decisions without taking the party into confidence in an authoritarian manner.
Mamledar, who is the former MLA of Ponda constituency, cited the example of the party president handing over a letter to both the Speaker and Governor during the government formation, which he said was done unilaterally and amounted to a fraud.
“No resolution to this effect was taken by the party’s central committee. All the books and records are with me. There is no record of any such decision,” Mamledar had said. “The letters to Speaker and governor promising support to the Govt if Manohar Parrikar is the Chief Minister are a fraud,” he added.
He, however, stopped short of saying that it was the wrong decision to support the government, saying that he was only pointing to the fact that procedure was not followed.
He had also questioned the decision to admit Dr Ketan Bhatikar and former Shiv Sena State chief Shivaprasad Joshi into the party.
