Clear wooden debris hindering flow of water: Sattari locals

VALPOI
The recent flood is still fresh in the minds of the residents of Sattari and now they have raised fears of possible recurrence if all the wooden debris stuck in the bandharas are not removed before the next spell of rain.

The recent flooding in Sattari had caused largescale damage. One of the causes of the flooding was the wooden debris which hindered the flow of the water. As a result, water level rose and caused flooding.

However, this wooden debris continue to lie where they are and the department concerned hasn’t done much to get rid of these.

People fear if the rains intensify again in the coming days, the possibility of another flood in Sattari cannot be ruled out. If that happens then the damage will be severe.

The floodwaters have receded and the situation seems to be slowly returning to normal. However, the Irrigation Department has not yet taken note of the debris that are obstructing the flow of water at the Valvanti bandharas.
