Minister of  State for Tourism  Shripad Naik stated that education should be skilled-based rather than knowledge-based. Skill-based education is definitely more effective and purpose-driven, which helps students to earn their livelihood  without depending on the government jobs. Students should also keep in mind that, post-COVID, the skill-based sector will witness a jump in the demand of job opportunities. With the various skilled workforce roles, students can be a part of the process in helping break down the cycle of unemployment, said Naik.

He was speaking at Porvorim as chief guest at the concluding ceremony of ‘Swatchata Pakhwada’ organised by Jana Shikshan sanstha and also to hand over 5,000 rakhis to Minister Shripad Naik for onward despatch to Siachin frontier army soldiers.

Naik further mentioned that most of the students learn to secure good jobs especially in government organisations. They should not forget that they owe responsibility to society also. They should utilise their knowledge for the benefit of society in whatever way they can .Jana Shikshan Sanstha plays an important role in upgrading the occupational and technical skills of non- literate persons especially women and enable them to stand on their own feet, said Naik.

The Principal of Vidhya Prabhodani College Dr Bhushan Bhave stated that Indian culture and Western culture are diametrically opposite to each other.. Indian culture is a mix of diversities in customs, rituals, traditions, language, etc, that varies from region to region within the country. It is one of the oldest and a combination of various cultures. Raksha Bandhan is part of Indian culture. Raksha Bandhan is one of the most ancient festivals celebrated in India, dedicated to the pious bond between a brother and a sister. The students of Jana shikshan Sanstha deserves appreciation for making 5000 rakhis to be sent to soldiers. Patriotism is in the blood of the Indians, said Dr Bhave.

Datta Naik, Rajkumar Dessai and Sanjay Walaulkar also spoke on this occasion .Special rakhis made by the students of Jana Shikshan Sanstha  were handed over to State Tourism Minister Shripad Naik and Dr Bhave.
