Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday, observed the National Vaccination Day and urged Goans to ensure greater engagement around immunisation of Covid-19.
“The #NationalVaccinationDay spreads awareness about the importance of vaccination and improvement of health and well-being. I urge greater engagement of the citizens of Goa around immunisation of #COVID19 vaccine to protect and safeguard people of all age groups against the disease,” Sawant tweeted.
The two-day mega Covid vaccination camps concluded across 33 health centres in Goa on Tuesday. According to the figures available with the Directorate of Health Services, a total of 4,896 persons aged above 60 years and between 45 and 59 years with co-morbidities received the first dose of the vaccine on Tuesday.
The vaccination drive which began in Goa on January 16 along with the rest of the country has successfully covered 77,296 people in the state till date. Of this total, roughly 65,927 have received the first dose while 11,369 have completed the vaccination course by receiving the second dose.
Meanwhile, the vaccination of Health Care Workers (HCWs) and Front Line Workers (FLWs) continues in the state. On Tuesday, 56 HCWs and 298 FLWs received their second and final dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
