CM launches scheme for motorcycle pilots, rickshaw drivers

The modified scheme that grants financial assistance to traditional occupations and which has been extended to include motorcycle pilots and rickshaw drivers was launched by Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar.

 Over one lakh rickshaw drivers and motorcycle pilots who have completed over 15 years in profession would be eligible for receiving a monthly income of Rs 2,000 under the scheme The state government had last week notified a scheme to include 16 traditional occupations including auto rickshaws, local sweet makers (Khazekar), local gram sellers (Chanekar), local pyrotechnicians and fireworks specialists (Foger, fogeri), coconut toddy tappers (render) and motorcycle pilots. Chief Minister Parsekar on Sunday presented the scheme forms to hundreds of auto rickshaw drivers and motorcycle pilots. PERNEM Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Sunday stated that the contractor for the proposed Mopa airport will be finalized by July-end and the work of the airport will start before August 30.
