Chief minister Pramod Sawant laid the foundation stone for Sanjay School premise at Curchorem on Tuesday.
The facility is set to comprise essential amenities, including a physiotherapy center, specialised medical facilities, and counseling rooms. “The counseling rooms are not only for students, but for their parents as well, they will be counselled by the teachers and the counsellors at the school,” said Sawant.
The primary objective of the Sanjay School is to empower special-needs students towards self-reliance, focusing not only on academic literacy but also on their integration into society. Sawant further elaborated on the innovative aspect of the school, revealing plans for a grocery shop within the premises. “The school will also have a grocery shop to teach students real-time transactions and learn basic life skills,” added Sawant.
Sawant assured that the construction of the school building would be completed within the next 18 months. Moreover, he unveiled forthcoming plans for the establishment of a permanent hostel tailored to the needs of special-needs students. “Many parents are concerned about who will look after their child once they pass away; this hostel will take care of the students, the hostel will provide long-term support and care for its residents,” assured Sawant
During the ceremony, Sawant also attributed the initiation of the project to MLA Nilesh Cabral, acknowledging his role in its conception and execution and praised the Sanjay School teachers for their care and dedication towards the students.
