Chief Minister Pramod Sawant led a host of political leaders who paid homage to former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday which was the latter’s fifth death anniversary.
Sawant observed moments of silence and garlanded the life-size statue at the former chief minister’s memorial at Miramar.
Also paying homage to Parrikar on Sunday were his son Utpal, BJP State president and Rajya Sabha MP, Sadanand Shet Tanavade and several other leaders.
Parrikar had died in office on March 17 of 2019 after battling pancreatic cancer for well over a year.
Meanwhile, Utpal Parrikar who spoke to the media after paying homage to his late father, indicated he would be with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“Everybody knows where I stand. Since 2014 elections we stood with Modi. But because of Panaji I took a different path in 2022,” Parrikar Junior said, adding he may technically not be in the BJP but still everyone knows where he stands.
