Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will lay the foundation stone for the long-pending Ambedkar Bhavan in Porvorim on Tuesday, marking the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar.
The project, first announced in 2019–20, had been delayed despite repeated government assurances. According to a statement from the Directorate of Information and Publicity, the ceremony will be held virtually.
Planned on a 2,140 sq m plot, the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan is intended to support students and youth. It will include hostel facilities for students from remote parts of Goa and other states.
The Bhavan will also have a multipurpose hall and facilities for skill development, reskilling and upskilling programmes, with a focus on youth empowerment.
The state government has earlier set aside Rs 10 crore for the project, which is expected to offer educational and developmental support once completed.
