The Stella Maris Chapel at Miramar will be elevated to the status of a church on April 15 at 5 pm.

This newest church will be the 175th parish in the diocese, which comprises Goa, Daman, Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

The solemn ceremony will be celebrated by Archbishop of Goa Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão and attended by clergy, dignitaries, and parishioners, with special liturgical celebrations and prayers.

This is an important milestone for the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman, the people of Miramar, and the wider Goan Catholic community—an occasion that reflects the faith, traditions, heritage, and identity of the place.

The Stella Maris Chapel, Miramar, was under the jurisdiction of the Santa Inez Parish from 1989 till date. The process for elevation of the chapel to a parish church was started more than 15 years back, and is a result of continuous dedication and commitment by the faithful and all the chaplains who served them.
