The Sancoale village panchayat witnessed a major political change on Monday after seven of the 11 panch members passed a no-confidence motion, removing Sarpanch Anusha Lamani and Deputy Sarpanch Derrick Vales from their posts.

The special meeting, called to decide on the motion, was attended by seven members who proved their majority. Lamani and Vales, along with panch members Girish Pillai and Santosh Desai, were absent. The motion was supported by Tulsidas Naik, Maria Azevedo, Nidhi Naik, Rohini Toraskar, Valento Rodrigues, Maurelio Carvalho and Jasiya Kadar, who cited administrative delays and growing civic issues.

Following the move, the members demanded an early meeting to elect a new sarpanch and deputy sarpanch, stressing the need for stability.

They also thanked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho for ensuring a fair process.

The members said several key issues remain unresolved due to delays in decision-making. With the monsoon approaching, they noted that pre-monsoon works are still pending.

Garbage management has also emerged as a major concern, with services reportedly affected. Several development files remain pending, and members said swift decisions are needed to restore normal functioning.
