With the ruling municipal group alleging copy and paste done by the staff while preparing the budget estimates, Cuncolim Municipal Council Chairperson Lavita Mascarenhas has called for a special meeting on March 1, to discuss the budget estimates proposed by the municipal administration.
At the special meeting of the Council held on Thursday, the office proposal for approval of the budgetary estimates for the financial year 2016-17 was placed for discussions, but Chairperson Mascarenhas told the members that she has decided to call for a special meeting to discuss the budget estimates.
CMC vice-chairperson Mario Moraes slammed the budget estimates compiled by the municipal administration, terming them as either unrealistic or the staff has resorted to copy and paste before placing the proposals before the Council for approval. “This Council want to discuss and pass a budget, which is not only realistic, but is compiled after taking into account the ground reality. We do not want a copy and past budget," he said.
The vice-chairperson also demanded that the administration also place before the Special meeting scheduled on March 1 the audited statements of the financial year 2014-15 and 2015-16 for the information of the councillors.
