Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar said he would meet Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to address the issue of the huge legacy waste at Sada.
He was speaking to reporters after launching the work to hotmix internal roads in Sada in the presence of Mormugao BJP Mandal President Sanjay Satardekar, municipal councillors Damodar Kaskar, Kunali Parsekar and other locals.
Amonkar welcomed the decision of Sawant to have a proposal for legacy waste treatment and disposal in the upcoming budget.
“We have sought an appointment with him this evening where we will address the issue of the huge legacy waste at Sada and we will request him to treat and dispose the legacy waste dump prior to monsoons,” said Amonkar.
Amonkar said all internal roads in Mormugao Constituency would be hotmixed in phases.
“We are launching the hotmixing of roads from Ward 4 but we will be taking up work to hotmix roads across all wards of Mormugao constituency from Wards 1 to 9 and this will be taken at the cost of Rs 7 crore,” said Amonkar.
Asked about the absence of his name on the foundation stone of the Vasco fish market and Power House project laid down by Urban Development Minster Vishwajeet Rane recently, Amonkar said he did not want to stir up any controversy.
“What’s in a name? I have no time for negativity and I don’t want to spend my valuable time on such controversy. I think we must be broadminded and ignore any such errors because more than the name, it is the level of development an MLA takes up for his constituency,” said Amonkar.
