Colvale police successfully traced and rescued a 12-year-old boy who had been missing since March 2.
The child was subsequently lodged at Apna Ghar in Merces, while an investigation into the circumstances of his disappearance continues.
According to the police, the minor’s parents had lodged a complaint stating that their son had been kidnapped and taken to an unknown location.
Acting swiftly, Colvale police registered an offense under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and the Goa Children’s Act against an unknown person and launched an investigation.
A special team, led by Police Inspector (PI) Vijay Rane and comprising PSI Rohan Madgaonkar, PSI Bharat Kharat, PSI Ramchandra Satelkar, PSI Prakash Ghadi, PSI Dattaraj Rane, Head Constable Rama Naik, Pandurang Naik, Haresh Redkar, and Police Constables Praveen Patil, Suraj Redkar, and Nikhil Naik, was formed to trace the missing boy.
Using CCTV footage and local informants, the police managed to track down the minor in Colvale and safely rescue him. After completing the necessary procedures, the child was placed in Apna Ghar for further care.
Colvale police have assured that they are investigating all possible angles in the case to determine the circumstances of the boy’s disappearance.
