We want to ensure that each and every citizen can avail the various schemes and facilities offered by the State, said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant while emphasizing that the aim of the government was to reach out to the last man in the queue.
Sawant also said, on Sunday, that the credit of achieving 100 percent of the first dose of vaccination in the State goes to the people of Goa and the health department and sought people’s cooperation to achieve the same result with the second dose by October 31.
The chief minister was addressing the gathering after launching the ‘Sarkar Tumcha Daari’ (governance to the doorstep) initiative at Shree Ram Vidhya Mandir school building at Colvale in Tivim in presence of the local MLA, Nilkant Halarnkar, ZP Diksha Kanolkar, sarpanchas and panchayat members.
“When we talk of governance at the doorstep it means the government is concerned about the elderly mother, the widowed sister and the disabled brother in the society. The government wants to reach out to the last man in the queue and ensure that everyone gets access to the government schemes,” Sawant said.
Chief Secretary Parimal Rai, Revenue Secretary Sanjay Kumar, GMC Dean S Bandodkar, DHS Director Jose D’Sa and most of the senior bureaucrats from North Goa were in attendance.
Continuing, Sawant said the government launched the initiative as Goa was celebrating the diamond jubilee of its liberation.
“A lot of people questioned me why now and not earlier. Due to the pandemic, we could not go and meet people and therefore we are trying to reach out to the maximum of them,” he said.
He further disclosed that the decision to hold the initiative was taken at a very short notice.
“We took the decision on Friday. The officers got just one day to get their act together and prepare for such a huge event,” he said.
Altogether counters of 23 departments including health checkup facilities were arranged in different classrooms at Shree Ram Vidhya Mandir school building at Colvale.
According to the CM, the government offered 152 welfare schemes but most people were not aware of these, barring a few.
“People only know about Griha Adhar and DDSSY schemes. The government has recently launched its ‘know your scheme’ portal where all schemes are made available at the click of a button. People can sit at home and apply for any of the schemes,” he said.
He further said, besides, the schemes the government has also focused on self-employment and offered Rs 10 lakh subsidy for a startup proposal.
“The State government has taken two steps to celebrate Goa@60, we want people to take four steps now,” he said.
