Despite several complaints to authorities about violations of the Noise Pollution Rules as well as conditions of the sound permission given to the organisers of Vh1 Supersonic, no action has been taken, Francoise de Souza, member of the Noise Pollution Committee appointed by the High Court has alleged.

In letters he has written to several authorities asking that the permission be rescinded, including the North Goa Collector, the Superintendent of Police, and others, de Souza has alleged that the sound outside the venue was more than the permissible limits.

“Decibel reading taken during the activity period has exceeded 75dB(A) when measured on a self calibrated noise metre at the nearest residence from 9.45 to 10.30 pm on December 27,” de Souza said.

“Despite complaining to the authorities on calls and SMSs to the additional district magistrate, district magistrate, the DySP, emergency number, Calangute Police Station and Superintendent of Police, North on several occasions on December 27 (the first day of the event), the violation continued unabated,” he added.

In another letter sent to the above authorities on Tuesday, de Souza has demanded that the permissions be revoked for violations of the conditions as well as violating the noise pollution rules.

The EDM festivals come to a close on December 30 after running for four straight days.
