MARGAO
There seemed no end to harassment meted out to commuters at the Aquem bus stop near St Sebastian Church.
Complaints are galore that bus conductors jostle to pull customers coming towards the main road from the Margao railway station literally into their buses.
Sunday saw conductors of two buses literally catching and pulling a commuter from Uttar Pradesh to travel in their buses. One of the conductors was seen pulling the customer’s bag to make him travel in his bus.
The irate customer complained that he was being pushed and pulled by the two conductors to take their buses.
“This is illegal. The authorities should take action against this nuisance”, the customer demanded.
Aquem locals, however, said the Sunday incident is not an isolated incident, pointing out that conductors pulling and pushing customers into their buses is an everyday affair at Aquem.
They pointed out that though complaints were made in the past against such malpractices, the law enforcing agencies, including the RTO and the Margao traffic police cell have failed to crack a whip and discipline the erring conductors.
