Close on the heels of a similar meet by the BJP, the Congress election review committee convened a meeting with all its candidates who had been defeated in the assembly elections.
These losing candidates who placed their analysis before the committee have been told to submit a report in writing before March 24.
"The candidates will submit a detailed report analysing the reasons for the failure of the party,” said Digambar Kamat.
Dharmesh Saglani, Prasad Gaonkar, Elvis Gomes, Tony Rodrigues and Khemlo Sawant were among the Congress candidates present at the meeting.
GPCC President Girish Chodankar had convened the meeting, he was not present due to some reasons and the meeting was chaired by Margao MLA Digambar Kamat.
The losing candidates said some block members of Congress had worked against them.
Velim Congress Candidate Savio D’Silva said some party workers did not work for him, leading to his defeat.
Cortalim candidate Olencio Simoes said he would continue to work for the party.
Sankali candidate Dharmesh Saglani said he did not get enough time to campaign as he was assured of the ticket very late.
He indicated doubts in the counting of postal votes and as he had lost by a slim margin of 666 votes.
Rajesh Verenkar of Ponda constituency said the votes split by RG had helped in the victory of BJP candidate by a slim margin.
