The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Thursday has flayed the claims of BJP President Vinay Tendulkar that 85 per cent of promises made by BJP through its poll manifesto in 2012 have been completed.
In a statement, GPCC general secretary and spokesperson Sunil Kawthankar stated, “Tendulkar is a liar and his claim is a complete open lie and that will be proved with the following facts.”
He further said that going by BJP’s 2012 poll manifesto, Tendulkar’s claims stand completely false. Forget 85 per cent, BJP government in Goa has failed to even complete 15 per cent of the promises they made to people of Goa,” Kawthankar lashed out.
Taking a jibe at BJP State president, GPCC general secretary said, “Tendulkar has either not read his party's 2012 poll manifesto properly or has lied to all Goans and hence he should immediately resign from his post.”
Congress expressed surprise and shock over Tendulkar’s statement and sought to know how the BJP can undertake a jan sampark yatra after making such claims.
Kawthankar listed 15 promises made by BJP in its 2012 poll manifesto which have not been fulfilled.
Institution of ST welfare fund, employment to STs, unemployment allowance, employment generation to the tune of 50,000 in five years, creation of a master plan for conservation of heritage, abolition of house tax, finalization of a new Regional Plan, affordable housing for all, Cyberage scheme, Tourism Policy, Lokayukta in 100 days, uninterrupted power and water supply and removal of casinos from River Mandovi were among the issues which Congress claimed the BJP has failed to deliver.
Kawthankar warned that there are many more failures of the BJP. “We shall bring these to notice of people at the right time,” he said.
