Congress while providing additional evidence to corroborate the allegation of corruption in the Rs 45 crore scam in illumination of third Mandovi bridge by GSIDC on Sunday, demanded an immediate FIR against the culprits.

Placing the documents before about GST returns, GPCC president Girish Chodankar said that the Fluid and Power Automation Power Limited has provided forged bills to GST Commission Goa.

“Total cost of the items required for illumination was hardly Rs 7 crore, but bills amounting of Rs 45 crore have been submitted for this work,” he said.

Chodankar said the government has been charged Rs 1.53 lakh per pole when the actual cost of each pole was just Rs 72,750. Similarly, each fixture has been charged Rs 1.97 lakh when the actual cost of the same as per GST returns was just Rs 59,653.

Chodankar also pointed out that the Rs 50 crores plus work of illumination was given to Fluid and Power Automation without following tendering process. “Despite our objections, GSIDC has paid Rs 8-9 crores to the company which was appointed to purchase these items without a tendering process,” he said.

Girish further raised questions about provisions made to pay 15% margin money to this company for purchasing these items, which as per the original contract were to be directly purchased by GSIDC.

He has demanded that CM Pramod Sawant immediately file an FIR against the culprit.
