“It’s too early to say anything for the moment. I am a soldier of the Congress party, but there’s still time to take decisions on the candidates,” Sardinha told The Goan on Monday, when his reaction was sought over the Fatorda Block Congress decision to suggest his name for the Fatorda seat.
Sardinha, however, said that the Congress is emerging stronger in Fatorda day by day as compared to the situation two years ago, while crediting the workers and members of the block for toiling hard to re-establish the Congress in the constituency. “I am happy that the Fatorda block members are working overtime to re-establish the party in Fatorda. And I can see that things are working in Congress party’s favour,” remarked Sardinha, who was appointed as in-charge of the Fatorda block by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Luizinho Faleiro last year.
Replying to a question, Sardinha said the Congress party is on a comeback trail, not just in Fatorda, but across the state, with people of the state looking at the Congress as an alternative to the ruling BJP-led government.
When his attention was drawn to the repeated demands made by the Fatorda block opposing any alliance with any party in the coming election, Sardinha said “issues such as alliance fall within the domain of the party leadership. However, I am of the strong opinion that the party leadership should respect and take cognizance of the sentiments of the party workers while taking any decisions on forging alliances. The views and opinion of the block should be respected when the members are working hard and toiling for the victory of the party in the coming polls.”
