A Congress delegation led by Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar on Wednesday knocked on the doors of the Raj Bhavan once again, this time to ask the Governor to take cognisance of the complaints the party had filed against the CM with regard to renewal of mining leases.
The Congress had, on October 3 and 4 handed over memorandums to the Chief Secretary/ Chief Vigilance Officer and Director General of Police respectively. The memorandums asked the authorities to look into the matter of CM Parrikar, ex-CM Parsekar, and others having committed alleged illegalities and offences under the penal law by hurriedly resorting to en masse renewals of mining leases.
However, the Congress asked the governor to look into the matter as they felt no investigation had been initiated against the accused.
Addressing mediapersons outside the Raj Bhavan, GPCC Chief Girish Chodankar said, “An FIR has to be registered against the CM and other named. But the authorities are scared to register an FIR since it’s the CM who has been named.”
Chodankar also expressed that the Governor was not doing justice to the position she held. “Every time she gives us an assurance that she will take cognisance of the issues we bring to her notice, but she doesn’t act on her assurances,” he said.
Kavlekar also informed that they had reminded the governor that the Congress has been repeatedly asking for the Chief Minister’s health bulletin. “The government says there is nothing wrong with the CM, yet, the government is running headless, and is shrouded in scams,” he said.
