CORTALIM
Virtually severing all ties with the Congress party, Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho has reiterated his stand to contest from Dabolim constituency, but on the BJP ticket.
“What I'm stating is nothing new. I have made my stand very clear that I will contest from Dabolim constituency on the BJP ticket,” Godinho told The Goan after launching hot-mixing works at Matvem-Dabolim constituency on Wednesday.
Asked how sure was he to contest from Dabolim, especially if MGP refuses to give up on the Dabolim seat on grounds that they had fielded candidate in the last election, Godinho said: “That is not a problem. Considering my seniority in politics and the hierarchy I enjoy, I do not expect anything to come my way.”
Regarding his stand on the controversial Medium of Instruction (MoI) debate, Godinho made it clear that he stood for the parents to take a call on the medium of language of their children.
“My stand has been consistent throughout. I want the parents and not the politicians, ministers or whoever they may be, to decide the medium of instructions of children. We (politicans) should not meddle in the future of our children,” Godinho said.
Earlier, Godinho launched the hot-mixing works on the internal Matvem road in Dabolim constituency at the cost of Rs 74 lakh.
Acting Chicalim sarpanch Kamla Yadav, panchas Raul D'Costa, Seby Pereira, Neelima Naik, Anita Vaz, Prajoti Kudalkar and Mauvin's PA Ligorio Monteiro were present on the occasion.
