Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar visited a project being constructed near the Bhotnath Devasthan in Pernem and stopped the construction work.
The Pernem Municipal Council (PMC) said it was unaware of the project and no permission had been sought from the council.
Locals complained about the construction work and Arlekar inspected the site in the presence of PMC Chairperson Madhav Sinai Desai, Trupti Sawal Desai, Usha Nagvenkar, Vishakha Gadekar, Siddhesh Pednekar, Vishnu Salgaonkar, Shivram Tukoji and others. The MLA later stopped the construction work.
The site has huge construction material and temporary electricity connection had been granted by the electricity department to the project. It was later reported that the electricity department had allowed a temporary connection to the project without taking permission from the PMC.
