Cyber crime police station on Wednesday registered a complaint against one unknown person who cheated a woman residing in Corlim using a Facebook account with the profile name 'Johnson Williams'.
The accused utilised computer resource, including FB chat and other chat applications, and made the complainant deposit an amount of Rs 1.20 lakh in various bank accounts under the pretext of providing her gifts worth £75,000.
The complaint has been registered under Section 66 D of Information Technology Act, 2000 for cheating the complainant through cyber resources. PI Rajesh Job is investigating the matter further.
