PORVORIM
Stating that healthcare and frontline workers have performed their duties selflessly and at great risk, Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said the sacrifices they have made for the safety and welfare of humanity is priceless and deserves lifelong gratitude from society.
He was speaking at a function organised by Porvorim Rising in Salai in Salvador do Mundo to felicitate doctors, nurses and paramedical staff.
“Since the Covid pandemic, doctors, nurses and healthcare workers may have experienced the gratification of healing patients and saving lives, but have they also sacrificed their own lives in the line of duty,” said Khaunte.
“Everyday, the selfless Covid warriors have worked relentlessly with devotion while cutting themselves off from their families and loved ones. We are alive today because of sacrifices by doctors, nurses and support staff. The sacrifice they have made for the safety and welfare of humanity is priceless and they deserve lifelong gratitude from society.”
The Porvorim MLA also praised the panchayat members of Penha de Franca, Salvador do Mundo and Socorro in providing grocery items and medical help to needy people.
He said the function was organised to felicitate efforts of the healthcare workers, while also expressing gratitude to those who lost their lives while saving the lives of Covid patients.
“Among the several lessons the Covid pandemic has taught us is that the world needs to work towards advancement in medical research and technology. This will be a great tribute to the healthcare workers,” he said.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Penha de Franca Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar, Salvador do Mundo Sarpanch Sandeep Salgaonkar and former ZP member Gupesh Naik.
