The Goa State Council of Communist Party of India (CPI) has said that BJP government at the centre is catering brazenly to the interests of higher classes and higher castes.
Speaking to media-persons, Dr Bhalchandra Kango, national executive member of CPI said, “Today, the BJP government poses great danger to the livelihood of the people. It goes against the interests of the common man. It caters openly and brazenly to the interests of higher classes and higher caste.
“BJP believes in cultural nationalism. By that, they mean dominance of Hinduism on all sections of society and therefore they use all symbols, right from colour of flag to celebration of festivals to subtly influence human mind with cultural hegemony.”
CPI has also given a slogan of “BJP Hatao Desh Bachao”.
Talking about this, Dr Kango said, “We aren’t saying BJP mukta Bharat. We are democratic in that sense. Though we consider RSS to be the main champion of fascist forces in India, we are not talking of BJP or RSS mukta Bharat because we believe in a democratic system; but at the same time people should be aware of the dangers posed by their government.”
“The Narendra Modi government has showered all concessions on big corporates and has opened the core sectors of our economy to International Finance Capital with an intent to totally destroy our profit making public sector undertakings. Even our agricultural land is being acquired to hand it over to the builders, land mafia and capitalist class,” he continued.
Dr Kango further said that right wing fringe groups with the active support of BJP led NDA government are leaving no stone unturned to polarize the country on caste and communal lines.
